Late night mish-mosh.

Thank goodness I have small hands and shorter fingers, or else the keyboard on my new (well, used – but new to me!) netbook would be entirely too difficult to use. Hell, if I’m not at the right angle its still difficult to use – but I’m sure that’s something that I’ll get used to.

I’ve been staying up really late – for me – recently, and I”m not sure why. I think it might be because we put Evy down to bed a bit later now (in order to avoid a meltdown) and I just really want some “me” time before sleeping. It’s 10:30pm right now and usually I’d be in bed and asleep.

I’ve got some book reviews to post, I’m going to work on those tomorrow. I’ve finished with Crocodile on the Sandbank and have been working happily on The Passage – which by the way, I highly recommend!

My USB hub doesn’t work with my netbook & external drive – I think it’s because my external drive requires a certain amount of power and my USB hub can’t provide that. But it does have a built in card reader that actually reads our HC SD card that we bought for our DSLR. Surprising, considering my 24in Dell monitors built in card reader wouldn’t work.

I bought some boots from an Amazon sponsored company a week ago, and they arrived today. They’re different than what I imagined  – soft, pliable suede rather than firm leather-like material – so I might send them back. I didn’t really “need” them, but I have been wanting a pair of boots for awhile. But a pair that would be good for wet and messy weather, which I don’t believe these would be. Perhaps I’ll wear them around the house a bit before deciding. Luckily, they offer free returns – so either way I have a choice.

Paul and I are trying to decide on a new couch. We promised our new housemates that we’d furnish the family room with a sofa that would fit at least four adults and our current sofa does not. I found one that I like from Ikea – and with the custom combination I want it’s really not that bad of a price but it’s still a lot. I’ve always been nervous about buying pricey, new furniture while Evy is still at this age because I don’t want it stained with juice or ruined by chewing gum and so on and so forth. I was thinking of using Craigslist again, but the selection is really poor or people are asking for close to retail. Um, no – this is Craigslist, not eBay.

I’m getting tired. I should really go to bed.

Junior did not take well to the old cat litter we bought awhile back. It came to a point where he wasn’t even trying anymore – so we moved the litter robot into the house over the weekend. Sure, it’s only been a day or so, but he seems to be working well with it. We’ve decided to leave it unplugged (there’s no “off” switch) and just run it once at night because I think the smell encourages him to use it and the movement makes him nervous. We have another month and a half to decide, but we’re not too confident right now :(

All right. That’s it – I’m really going to bed now.

Lots of random bits.

Last Monday I went and saw Iron Man 2 – which I thought was great! We discovered this small theater about ten minutes from our house which had much better prices than the one we’re usually forced to go to – so that was nice. Plus we were closer to the baby and the showtimes were better. WIN WIN.

I’ve REALLY been enjoying my audiobooks of the Outlander series. It’s such a pleasure to hear it read by Davina Porter, as her ability to recreate the accents are very impressive. Plus, since some of the names of the characters and places are ethnic, it’s nice to be able to hear how they are pronounced. I’m about three (out of 39) discs into Drums of Autumn (fourth book) and I don’t see any signs of stopping :P

I joined a book club at work, our first book is The Memory Keeper’s Daughter, which I was interested in – at first. But now I’m really enjoying Drums of Autumn and I’ve got two weeks to read The Memory Keeper’s Daughter :( Has anyone read this that can give me some encouraging tidbits?

I read this interesting article about tea, where it explained why you shouldn’t let tea seep for longer than 3 minutes. It was very enlightening and ever since, my tea has tasted MUCH better. Before, I’d just keep the tea bag in the hot water until I was ready to drink it – and sometimes I’d forget. Now I use the timer on my phone.

I’ve fallen for TweetDeck – which I use on my iPhone as well as on my desktop. It’s a great “one stop shop” when it comes to social networking. I hate the work required when it comes to social networking, so this is nice.

Matching.

This picture is random. It shows how dirty my bedroom is and how Paul got sucked into "The Perfect Pushup" :P What it also shows, is that I'm matching today! I bought these sandals years ago from Old Navy and I'm shocked that they match perfectly with these pants and this shirt. It's one of my favorite outfits right now. More so because it make nursing a breeze. Anyhow – random, I know.

I miss my nieghbors here :( Gotta make more time to blog!!!

Random thoughts from people my age…

Yoinked from someone on Facebook…

-I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.

-More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can
think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell
my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.

-Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

-I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to
have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and
sticks when they've invented the lighter?

-Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're
going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to
be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the
direction from which you came, you have to first do something like
check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to
yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're
crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.

-That's enough, Nickelback.

-I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.

-Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know"
feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose
not to be friends with?

-Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't
work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically
fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know
how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or
FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.

-There is a great need for sarcasm font.

-Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and
suddenly realize I had no idea what the f was going on when I first saw
it.

-I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually
becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90
minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at
the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and
a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the only one who really,
really gets it.

-How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?

-I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.

- I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.

-The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.

- A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.

- Was learning cursive really necessary?

- Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".

- I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.

- Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.

- My brother's Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads.
Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired
about the name. He explained, "Cuz we beat you, and you hate us."
Classy, bro.

- Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".

- How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?

- I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up
to prevent a dick from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!

- Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using 'as in'
examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete
idiot. Today I had to spell my boss's last name to an attorney and said
"Yes that's G as in…(10 second lapse)..ummm…Goonies"

-What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?

- While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it…thanks Mario Kart.

- MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.

- Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.

- I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.

-Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.

- I would like to officially coin the phrase 'catching the swine flu'
to be used as a way to make fun of a friend for hooking up with an
overweight woman. Example: "Dave caught the swine flu last night."

-I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired.

- Bad decisions make good stories

-Whenever I'm Facebook stalking someone and I find out that their
profile is public I feel like a kid on Christmas morning who just got
the Red Ryder BB gun that I always wanted. 546 pictures? Don't mind if
I do!

- Is it just me or do high school girls get sluttier & sluttier every year?

-If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

-Why is it that during an ice-breaker, when the whole room has to go
around and say their name and where they are from, I get so incredibly
nervous? Like I know my name, I know where I'm from, this shouldn't be
a problem….

-You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work
when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything
productive for the rest of the day.

-Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after DVDs? I don't want to have to restart my collection.

-There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far.

-I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me
if I want to save any changes to my ten page research paper that I
swear I did not make any changes to.

- "Do not machine wash or tumble dry" means I will never wash this ever.

-I hate being the one with the remote in a room full of people watching
TV. There's so much pressure. 'I love this show, but will they judge me
if I keep it on? I bet everyone is wishing we weren't watching this.
It's only a matter of time before they all get up and leave the room.
Will we still be friends after this?'

-I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello?
Dammit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and
goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone
and run away?

- I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste.

-When I meet a new girl, I'm terrified of mentioning something she
hasn't already told me but that I have learned from some light internet
stalking.

-I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.

-Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles…

- As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers,
but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.

-Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.

-It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.

-I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.

-Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.

-Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car
keys in a pocket, hitting the G-spot, and Pinning the Tail on the
Donkey – but I’d bet my ass everyone can find and push the Snooze
button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time
every time…

-My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would
happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the hell do I respond to that?

-It really pisses me off when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.

-I wonder if cops ever get pissed off at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.

-I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

-I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lites than Kay.

-The other night I ordered takeout, and when I looked in the bag, saw
they had included four sets of plastic silverware. In other words,
someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about
it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating
to require such a large amount of food. Too bad I was eating by myself.
There's nothing like being made to feel like a fat bastard before
dinner.

Today’s going by slow.

I just want to get home, given that Evy is sick. She’s got some kind of head cold with a runny nose, watering eyes, and I believe a fever. Mucus is draining from her nose though, and it’s clear – so I’m not going to worry too much. I just wish I could stay home. I hope she’s not worst tomorrow given that I have to work early. But we’ll see.

Random thoughts:

  • I’m hungry.
  • I have to work late tonight – no over time pay though :(
  • I saw a funny comic strip, Dilbert was on a date who judged him by his phone apps, very funny :P
  • I’m waiting on THREE books right now. I don’t want to wait anymore!

Up, down… Up, down…

My day is up and down today.

  • I didn't get enough sleep so I thought I'd have a bad day. Felt tired.
  • I came to work and cleaned my desk finally – I've been getting petroleum jelly everywhere (from my tattoos) so on top of the regular day to day filth I was adding goo to it. Felt accomplished!
  • Was driving home and got tailgated by a bitch in a Jetta (damn you! ruining the good Jetta name!!!) – when I brake checked her she flipped me off. I think we were both in the wrong. Felt aggravated.
  • Got home and Evy was in a good mood (again! more info on Evy's site). Felt loved.
  • Got back to work and am again freezing my ass off. Is there a reason why we're moaning about money troubles at my work and yet we continue to cool the building down to SEVENTY DEGREES! I hate having to dress for snow to work inside and then sweat my ass off in the 105° heat on the 15 minute drive home.

So, needless to say – I'm surviving, but just barely.

ROLLERCOSTER! Of love…

I'm having a good day.

This week has been very up and down for me. Let's start with the downs, so we end on a good note :)

DOWN:

  • My milk production seemed to have plummeted through the floor. We've had to give Evy a bottle (of previously pumped breast milk) twice this week. I'm not sure what's wrong, though I have a few theories that I've elaborated on here, at Evy's website.
  • In order to help resolve the milk production issue, I've been getting up every three hours with Evy at night – even though she's able to sleep through it – I'm not able to and I'm exhausted from such little sleep.
  • We're running VERY low on funds, and its stressing me out. I can't afford to take off one day a week anymore, and its crushing me. We've tried eating in and limiting our spending but Summer seems to be a busy month and we're having problems.
  • I can't seem to find time to re-read Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince. I really wanted to read it with my sister, and now she's already finished and reminded me of how much I don't remember. I have exactly…13 days to read it if I want to do comparisons with the movie.
  • The dealership where I bought my car went out of business. That's where I got all my maintenance service done (I promise, it was a much better price then going to some Jiffy Lube) and they had all my records.
  • GreatestJournal shut down permanently and I've lost a good year's worth of written memories.

UP:

  • As Evy's website will show, I'm trying to stay optimistic about my milk supply. I still have options and my doctor is VERY supportive so I know that it worse come to worse I have some medical options. Worrying will only make it worse.
  • I'm sure I'll get used to waking up and will soon begin to fall asleep quickly. Until then I'm just going to hit the hay early and deal with it. At least it's a choice to do it, and Evy's not making me get up and do it.
  • Yes, we're running low. BUT! I talked to my boss and he's going to let me work an hour more each day so that I'll only be taking 8 hours of no-pay each paycheck instead of 16 – that'll help a lot! Plus, Paul's getting paid on Friday even though he was probably going to get paid on Monday so we can make rent without taking too much from our savings.
  • Even if I can't re-read Harry potter I'll still enjoy the movie – maybe even more so because the changes wont be glaringly noticeable due to my lack of memory.
  • I found out that all the dealerships report to a main location in regards to maintenance records – so I can start going to the dealership that is closer and they'll still have all my records too. This worried me, because if something happened to my car and I had to prove I'd been doing maintenance – I wouldn't be able to as of right now.
  • I had my yearly review and it was GLOWING. I'm getting a raise (one of the only people in my department, due to budget cuts) and reviews are always stressful for me so it's nice to have it finished with.
  • I'm VERY excited about my tattoos! The only bummer is trying to decide because I've fallen for the panda sipping a soda – I really have.

Can’t think of a title. STOP PRESSURING ME!!!

I'm amazingly tired this morning.

I keep seeing all of these things talking about sleep and it's KILLING ME!

I have to turn in my yearly self-evaluation today. I hate doing self evaluations.

Tomorrow Wednesday, my day off – yay.
