Hehe, Evy’s first birthday – that is
Everything went great, except – as I was afraid of – most of the attendees didn’t make it. I invited about 26 adults and 7 kids and only 8 adults and 5 kids came. Its strange discovering what your friends and family find more important – but also very humbling. Evy may be the center of my world, but not many others. It probably worked out for the best because we had plenty of food, cake, & space – plus Evy didn’t seem too crowded. The most important people in Evy’s life were there and that’s what mattered.
As far as gifts go, she was modestly spoiled in both clothing and toys – and her grandparents bought her a new car seat (she’s now out of the infant (aka: removable) car seat and into a permanent front facing one) as well. That purchase REALLY helped Paul & I out because we were anticipating having to buy three of them; one for my car, one for Paul’s and one for my sister’s (who cares for Evy the most – and whose own son will be starting preschool soon so Evy will have to be mobile). We’ve reevaluated our needs though and realized that as nice as it would be to have one in my car as well, it’s not really “necessary” at this point. So as soon as my sister get’s her van we’ll buy another and stop there.
