We survived!!!

pics from mom's camera 516 Hehe, Evy’s first birthday – that is :) Everything went great, except – as I was afraid of – most of the attendees didn’t make it. I invited about 26 adults and 7 kids and only 8 adults and 5 kids came. Its strange discovering what your friends and family find more important – but also very humbling. Evy may be the center of my world, but not many others. It probably worked out for the best because we had plenty of food, cake, & space – plus Evy didn’t seem too crowded. The most important people in Evy’s life were there and that’s what mattered.

pics from mom's camera 543As far as gifts go, she was modestly spoiled in both clothing and toys  – and her grandparents bought her a new car seat (she’s now out of the infant (aka: removable) car seat and into a permanent front facing one) as well. That purchase REALLY helped Paul & I out because we were anticipating having to buy three of them; one for my car, one for Paul’s and one for my sister’s (who cares for Evy the most – and whose own son will be starting preschool soon so Evy will have to be mobile). We’ve reevaluated our needs though and realized that as nice as it would be to have one in my car as well, it’s not really “necessary” at this point. So as soon as my sister get’s her van we’ll buy another and stop there.

ROLLERCOSTER! Of love…

I'm having a good day.

This week has been very up and down for me. Let's start with the downs, so we end on a good note :)

DOWN:

  • My milk production seemed to have plummeted through the floor. We've had to give Evy a bottle (of previously pumped breast milk) twice this week. I'm not sure what's wrong, though I have a few theories that I've elaborated on here, at Evy's website.
  • In order to help resolve the milk production issue, I've been getting up every three hours with Evy at night – even though she's able to sleep through it – I'm not able to and I'm exhausted from such little sleep.
  • We're running VERY low on funds, and its stressing me out. I can't afford to take off one day a week anymore, and its crushing me. We've tried eating in and limiting our spending but Summer seems to be a busy month and we're having problems.
  • I can't seem to find time to re-read Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince. I really wanted to read it with my sister, and now she's already finished and reminded me of how much I don't remember. I have exactly…13 days to read it if I want to do comparisons with the movie.
  • The dealership where I bought my car went out of business. That's where I got all my maintenance service done (I promise, it was a much better price then going to some Jiffy Lube) and they had all my records.
  • GreatestJournal shut down permanently and I've lost a good year's worth of written memories.

UP:

  • As Evy's website will show, I'm trying to stay optimistic about my milk supply. I still have options and my doctor is VERY supportive so I know that it worse come to worse I have some medical options. Worrying will only make it worse.
  • I'm sure I'll get used to waking up and will soon begin to fall asleep quickly. Until then I'm just going to hit the hay early and deal with it. At least it's a choice to do it, and Evy's not making me get up and do it.
  • Yes, we're running low. BUT! I talked to my boss and he's going to let me work an hour more each day so that I'll only be taking 8 hours of no-pay each paycheck instead of 16 – that'll help a lot! Plus, Paul's getting paid on Friday even though he was probably going to get paid on Monday so we can make rent without taking too much from our savings.
  • Even if I can't re-read Harry potter I'll still enjoy the movie – maybe even more so because the changes wont be glaringly noticeable due to my lack of memory.
  • I found out that all the dealerships report to a main location in regards to maintenance records – so I can start going to the dealership that is closer and they'll still have all my records too. This worried me, because if something happened to my car and I had to prove I'd been doing maintenance – I wouldn't be able to as of right now.
  • I had my yearly review and it was GLOWING. I'm getting a raise (one of the only people in my department, due to budget cuts) and reviews are always stressful for me so it's nice to have it finished with.
  • I'm VERY excited about my tattoos! The only bummer is trying to decide because I've fallen for the panda sipping a soda – I really have.

Short and sweet.

  • Yesterday, while leaving work at lunch, I tried to open the parking gate (which opens automatically) with the garage door opener from my house. Twice.
  • I paid $0.25 more per gallon than I did the last time I filled up. And I don't even drive a hybrid!
  • Got our electric bill – it DOUBLED! Paul thinks its because I was home all last month. I hope so because that's a bill I don't want to have to budget more for.
  • Evy's growing so much! I wish I could weigh her but our bathroom scale is not that accurate and I don't want to shell out for another one yet… Guess I'll have to wait until her next doctors appointment!
  • I've been bored at work this morning. I changed my desktop theme and also downloaded & installed IconPackager to change all my icons at once and also changed my cursor. I'm not being a very good example to my fellow employees :(
  • I'm trying to drink a lot more fluids and I have to go to the bathroom all the time. So inconvenient! Why can't I be like a camel?! Oh, that's right – cause I'm playing moo-cow to my baby :P
  • Been enjoying Twitter a bit more this second time around.
  • Took a stupid quiz on Facebook called, "How White Are You?" I don't know why but I did. Well apparently I'm only 44% White. Questions included how I felt about SUVs and whether I ate until I was stuffed. I'm thinking the quiz was more about being an American than just White. Either way I'm apparently not me – Caucasian and American.
  • I'm hungry. Food will have to wait though, I must go drain my bladder and my breasts. TMI? Don't know, don't care :P
