Movie Studios Reassess Comic-Con – NYTimes.com

Movie Studios Reassess Comic-Con – NYTimes.com.

I kept hearing buzz about the fact that “The Hunger Games” was not going to be presenting anything at Comic-Con – and this makes complete sense.

I’ve been to Comic-Con twice, the last time I vowed never to do it again because the crowds were horrendous and all I really was interested in was the Hall H presentations (ie: Movies) – I’m not a comic book reader.

Plus, ever since Twilight began attending I hear the crowds got even worse, in both size AND annoyance.

Oh a whole, I really liked attending the convention – I need to find a new one :D

Repost Wednesday!

I’m now deeming Wednesdays the day I repost stuff I found funny and/or interesting. COMMENCE THE REPOST!

As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I follow the blog Failbook – which more often than not is simply a catch-all for the stupidity of society. However!  I found the following exchange to be QUITE good, given the cool headed responses by everybody and the persistence of Ronald. You’ll want to click on the image to visit the website, because the exchange shown here is just a snippet – it goes on for awhile.

Next we have a clever set of friends, I particularly like the camouflage response :P

Last but not least, I laughed at this one because it reminds me of the fact that I joke about a construction crew being in my stomach moving around my food after a heavy meal. It’s so loud sometimes, it can be the only explanation!

NC-17 rating overturned on ‘Blue Valentine’

NC-17 rating overturned on ‘Blue Valentine’ (AP) – Yahoo! Movies.

The most explicit sequence in “Blue Valentine” is a scene in which Gosling’s character performs oral sex on Williams’ character.

Remind me – if I ever get the urge to watch this movie – to only rent this one, so I can fast forward. I’ve got nothing against sex, or oral sex for that matter, but I’m not “progressive” enough to enjoy pornography.

“Blue Valentine” director Derek Cianfrance said the rating change was a win for “free speech and artistic integrity.”

It bothers me that the rating system is in place for a reason, and yet they are circumvented for 1st amendment right claims. Isn’t it enough that this movie could be made, distributed and enjoyed by a mature and properly notified audience? Its seems like every movie NOT release by Disney these days is R-rated – which is why so many adult don’t think twice about buying a ticket for a minor. It’s not as though you wouldn’t be able to view this after it leaves theaters. If a minor was SO intent on seeing an NC-17 film, they can – just not at the theater.

Hm, I guess my prudent personality is showing today…
