You’re new at this, aren’t you?

So as I've been posting, I'm selling the majority of my Blythe dolls – bypassing the eBay fees by selling them on the This is Blythe forum. I told everyone that I was only accepting PayPal – and everyone who is on that forum knows that PayPal charges fees for accepting money.

This one woman has been a bit of a hassle. For one thing, she can't make up her mind. She wants one doll – then she wants another. Finally she decided and I invoiced her. Then she asks for me to ship to some kind of warehouse instead of her house because she actually lives in the Bahamas – and she wants UPS because USPS leaves things unattended. UPS to Florida though is close to $50 so I quoted her USPS too and told her that they can't leave it because they need a signature so she'd be fine.

Then this morning I get a payment from her in the amount of $40 – out of the $200+ she owes me. Directly after, I get an email from her saying she's having problems because her credit card is considered international and she'll have to send it to me in small increments. Immediately I email her back and tell her that unless she wants to pay the 3.5% fee every time (it already took $1.86 of the $40 she gave me – so she'd be paying approximately $10 in fees), that's not going to work. Plus it would take over a week for me to get the entire amount if she's doing it in increments of $40 (this is under a stipulation that PayPal is like my banks ATM and will only let me withdrawal so much each day – it could just be each hour or each transaction but either way I'm thinking the worst).

After I told her it wouldn't work – and we'd have to cancel our purchase agreement – she emails me that she's just gotten off the phone with PayPal and that she's just going to keep trying to do the full amount as one transaction and if worst comes to worse she'll be having a friend pay for her. I don't really care how I'm getting paid – I just want my money. I have however let her know that if I get the payment from a second party – or in individual payments – I'm going to wait until all the payments have cleared to my bank before sending the doll. She can be angry – I don't care – I'm protecting myself in this.

Yes, I’ll take the Merlot and a side of random.

7 QotDs and I don't want to answer any of them, what does that say about me? What does that say about the QotDs? I wonder why sometimes they change every day – other times it's only about once a week?

I'm considering just asking for payment on the dolls I have offers on, even though I was going to wait until this Friday. I think the prices are fair and I haven't been getting much more response since I placed the current offer dollar amount on the thread. I have however stopped getting low offers that are just laughable – which is good. Besides, I think it might take awhile for people to have their money to me and I'd like to ship on Saturday so this might be for the best.

Our cable has been acting up a lot. It all started when last Tuesday our cable (TV & internet – and ergo phone because we use Vonage) went out. That afternoon we saw someone walking around looking at the cable lines. We called up Time Warner and they sent someone out the next day and confirmed there was some kind of issue with our lines in regards to our new upstairs neighbor. Apparently, Verizon is in the happen of cutting previous cable lines when they provide service – classy – and they cut our line thinking it was our new neighbors. Ever since then we've been missing channels (we have no premium channels, but basic ones like TBS, TNT & Cartoon Network (NNNNOOOOO!!!!!) have been unavailable) and the cable keeps cutting in and out. I'm frustrated because tonight is ANTM and that means my sister and I are getting together and she doesn't have cable right now so if we can't watch it at my apartment we're out of luck :( I've called Time Warner and they're completely booked for today and so they can't even come out – even if I could take the time off. Which sucks. I'm just going to hope that, for tonight, it's just simply coming and going instead of just being gone.

In other news, I'm laboriously getting through The Other Boleyn Girl. Having taken a break has helped, however I'm still only on page 294 of 661. I've brought it to work today because I'm just trying to read it (I can't stand not finishing a book) and I don't need to get lost in it. My sister is probably going to be done with The Time Traveler's Wife tonight which means we're going to start reading The Thirteenth Tale together. After that I'm going to move onto Rebel Angels – but until all of that I'm working on The Other Boleyn Girl. I have high hopes for this month because if I'm able to finish The Other Boleyn Girl, The Thirteenth Tale, Rebel Angels and then also the 3rd book in the Gemma Doyle series I'll have read six books this month and that'll put me two closer to filling the gap I made in February. Wish me luck!

IT’S A MOB!

Original post of March 10 @ 12:55pm has been edited @ 9:43pm

This past weekend I was talking to Paul and admitting that I was almost sure I wanted to sell most if not all of my Blythe collection. I'm just not as interested in it anymore – and I know that they're going to waste sitting in my closet in their boxes.

So this morning I decided to place a "feeler" on the This is Blythe forum – a great place to buy & sell Blythes here in the US. I didn't list prices or give commitments to sell and still I'm getting flooded with offers. But, now that I'm getting all of these offers – I don't know if I want to sell! For one thing, most of the offers are below market price which I didn't want to have to deal with. I'm not greedy but offering me $70 for a doll I paid $100 is ridiculous.

Now I don't know what I want to do. Do I amend the thread with prices I'm willing to accept or do I take it down until I'm more ready to give them up?

Edit:
I've decided to sell, I need to. When I pulled out some of the girls to photograph them for potential buyers none of the excitement was there. Its time. However!* I've also decided I'm going to keep one – just one. I don't know which one yet but I'm sure I'll figure that out soon. I'm leaning towards Steren (PD2Saffy) because she was my first and she still gives me bubbles :) I know that some of what moved my hand to sell was seeing the dollar amount I'd be recouping. I could buy a lot of clothes for my current doll or even buy a new one (manly-man Lupin from Soom anyone?!).

*There's that Kill-Bill-Vol-1-"However!" again :)

Of Fleas, Models & Dolls.

Today's been pretty uneventful – and yet its going by pretty fast which is nice.

Yesterday morning we put a second dose of the flea treatment on Ripley and placed her in the crate for the whole day (besides taking her out so she could go to the bathroom quickly). She was so miserable and I felt terrible for doing it – but at the same time I really want her fleas to go away and everyone was agreeing that the last dose I'd given her likely was rubbed off or something before it had time to work. I felt bad even for putting her back in the crate this morning so we could go to work – but it has to be done. Tonight I'm going to take her out and let her run around for a long time – and she'll stay out until we go to bed too – in order to make up for the awful confinement she felt yesterday.

Last night was the season finale of America's Next Top Model. I was glad because I was happy with Saleshia winning – but I much rather would have had Jenah win. I was telling Felipe Anuel how I was really frustrated and angry with the whole judging panel for how they were treating Jenah – she really never had a chance. No matter how much she tried everyone thought she was such a mean person when she wasn't in the least. She's someone I'd love to see in commercials and stuff – Jaslene makes me want to vomit. Every time she was on the show and every time they showed her commercials I let out a loud, "UGH!" because it was so irritating. A new cycle starts some time in February and I don't know how well the new judge is going to do – but I'm going to give it a try anyhow.

I placed my order yesterday with Denver Dolls :) My last installment will be on December 27th and I've requested 2 day shipping so I'm hoping she'll be here before the end of the year. She'll be my last expenditure for a very long time – even though I've been wanting Welcome Winter Blythe. I still have to pay for my other pre-order of PD2A from HLJ and that's my last commitment doll wise for awhile. There's a part of me that thinks that if I really enjoy my Souldoll I might sell some of my Blythes and keep only what I'm madly in love with. The bummer is that I'm madly in love with them all!

Tonight I'm going to watch Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix!

We need more cowbell!

I'm praying that today doesn't go by as slow as yesterday – because yesterday was so long.

When I got home and settled in I decided to do some "maintenance" on my dolls. I'd had them in the same clothes with their hair the same way for ages and I was worried about damaging them. So I undressed them all and took down their hair but didn't have time or the will to shampoo and dry each ones hair – a task long overdue. I also bagged* any new clothes I had acquired since the last time I'd cleaned up my collection and sorted everything as best as I could. I need to find a way to store and organize the clothes in a better way but I also don't want anything bulky or expensive. Must brainstorm.

Last night we also watch Pulp Fiction, which was a first for me. I'd seen bits and pieces over the years and knew some of the storyline but other than that I was pretty much in the dark. In fact, there was this cut scene once in an episode of Family Guy where Peter charges into a room with a samurai sword and slashes at two hillbillies. Paul laughed pretty hard but I never got it. Anyhow, I enjoyed the movie and I'm glad I've finally seen it. Next on my list of movies people poke fun at me for not having seen yet: Reservoir Dogs.

This weekend is going to be busy, I think. My sister called me last night and asked me to go with her and a bunch of other girls to this club at a local casino. Clubs are really not my scene – but I have a lot of fun with my sister when we do stuff like this and we're really not going to be drinking or anything. Just doing the "girls night out" thing. However, as I said it's not really my scene and I haven't decided if I'm going to go yet. Saturday I have no plans – but I do hope and pray I can at least get a bit of dryness and sunshine so I can take some pictures of my dolls. I put Hitomi in the cutest outfit last night and all I wanted to do was photograph her but I couldn't – and I still don't have any pictures of Bethany. Sunday I'm going to Disneyland with Jane for her birthday and I'm pretty excited :) The weather is supposed to be nice (let's hope this rain doesn't follow!) and we're going to get an early start and really enjoy the day. We learned our lesson once about leisurely strolling into the park.

All in all the weekend looks good!

*Bagged = My dolly clothes storage system consists of a large purse in which I place "sets" of clothes in snack-size ziplock plastic bags that I compress and then seal to make them slimmer. I organize them by stock clothing, handmade clothing, good quality clothing (such as SugarMag) and then junk clothing (like Barbie Fashion Fever).

The higher you are, the farther you fall.

After posting with such enthusiasm yesterday, I crashed. I think it was a combination of not having enough food throughout the day and also drinking an energy drink. I felt terrible for most of the afternoon and when I got home it didn't get much better. We really had to clean the kitchen and go grocery shopping though, so Paul went to the store while I cleaned. Luckily, we were all done by about 5:30pm and we were able to just lay down. I fell asleep and slept until Heroes came on, and then fell asleep quickly after that. I feel a bit better today, but still very tired. However, I don't think I'm going to get another energy drink today.

Last night we tried to crate train Ripley. Between me being easily irritated due to tiredness and this horrible back pain – I just couldn't deal with her whining. So, we put her away as per usual and we're going to try again tonight. She split her food and water while in the crate – so I'm going to find awhile to secure her dishes to the crate so she doesn't go without for the night. We're having a lot of progress though. She seems to like it in the kitchen (big surprise) so whenever we're cooking or cleaning in there I let her out and she just hangs around my feet which makes her feel more like a dog and less like something I have to cage – which is nice.

I'm growing more and more disappointed by the fact that all of the Blythes that have been released recently have been terrible – aside from Mrs. Retro Mama who is a staggering $240+. The newest two releases are practically twins and that pisses me off. For all the money that Takara (manufacturer of Blythes) makes off of Blythe, you think they could produce some dolls that were more original and also didn't cost a fortune. But whatever. I guess if I don't like it I should just stop collecting and stop bitching. At least some great Dals are being released.

I think I'm in a sour mood. I need some pick me up :(

This doesn’t seem right.

As you guys may have noticed, I haven't been into Blythe much as of
late. The one doll I was interested in, simply because she was a break
from the norm (special skin blend!) is out of my price range at $290
(that includes shipping).

Anyhow, I've still checked into the This is Blythe forum and I saw this posted.

NRFB Parco $2000AU, Postage will be?

If anyone really wants a Never Removed From Box Parco I'd only be willing to let her go for 2k.

Then I went to eBay because I thought, that seems MUCH more than even an original, never removed from box, KENNER. I was right.

clipped from cgi.ebay.com
1972 KENNER BLYTHE DOLL SEALED MINT IN ORIGINAL BOX

This
auction if for a Original Vintage 1972 Kenner Blythe doll Mint in the
Original box, original shrink wrap, original price tag.

She is wearing a Medieval  Mood outfit.

Long black hair.

In working condition when her cord is pulled her eyes change four different colours shown in the pictures.

The
tie from around her waist has come untied from being stored and moved,
but she has never been removed from the original wrap.

The original Simpson Sears price tag is still on the plastic wrap on the front of the box

Current Bid: $810

I can completely understand loving a doll, and all that. But it still amazes me that someone would even post their doll for sale if they had no real intention of wanting to sell her.

QotD: Best Buy

What's the best thing you ever bought off of Ebay or Craigslist?

Oh this is difficult to answer because I'm forced to buy a lot from eBay due to the fact that I like imports. Here's a list of some of the good stuff I've bought:

  1. These niffy doll shoes, which I don't think I would have been able to get for such a good price – even off of my dolly website.
  2. My Sooni DaL, Hitomi, who was out of stock every place else when I really wanted to buy her.
  3. The great and beautiful bento box :)

Vox Hunt: Arts & Crafts – My Current Project

Show us your current art or crafting project.

This is my current project – my Tailor Gibson Blythe doll. I'm customizing her – but have undoubtedly failed and botched the whole job. When taking her eye mechanism out, I broke the loop the pushes over the clips on the arc – and had to replace it with a different model's arc. The replacement however, is not working and I fear I've ruined her beyond repair. The real bummer is that I had plans to fashion her after someone special and I'll not be able to do that anymore.

I've gotten a few suggestions so far as fixes go. Someone suggested that I find an SBL to replace the current ADG arc (which replaced the RBL), but I don't have a SBL to spare so I don't think I could try that. Other suggestions included loosening the t-bar, which I'll definitely try. I had one thought, when I was pushing her eye balls back onto the post, I think I might have pushed one too far – the one that actually has the notched ring that the arc interacts with. Perhaps if that is pressed to far in – the arc wont be able to change? I'll try it out.
