Focus, Please!

At the Clinique counter, I exchanged the Redness Solutions with the Superbalanced Foundation. I tried out the tinted moisturizer as well, however I felt that it left my skin feeling sticky – like I was wearing non-absorbing lotion. Not a good feeling even if the coverage was nice.

This morning I showered, followed the 3-step, applied two other products, and then blow dried my hair. By the time I was done with my hair, I was sweating and none of the moisturizers had absorbed :( I rubbed them all in before applying the new foundation, with the foundation brush, and I still feel as though it’s too thick. I’m going to keep trying, with different application techniques, but something tells me I’m going to return this product as well.

MT suggested a product from Mally Beauty yesterday, and I decided to try it out since I found a specialty kit on the Try Mally website that allowed me to basically get two products for the price of one WITH free shipping. The claims on the Poreless products seem too good to be true, but I feel like they would solve the issues I’m having when using all foundation so perhaps I can stop shopping around. The kit comes with both the Perfect Prep Poreless Primer (PPPP) and the Evercolor Poreless Face Defender - the later of which MT suggested. I have a primer in my makeup kit, but I don’t feel it’s masking my pores. It does extend the life of my makeup and create crease-free eyeshadow all day long – but its the pores that are killing me!

I tried to find some pictures online – before & after – with the poreless line, but I couldn’t find any that started with someone having “grand canyon sized pores” – so it’s hard to know if this will actually work for me. I think I’ll use my DSLR and do some macro before and after shots to help out someone else considering this product. I watched countless YouTube “reviews” of makeup products yesterday and all I can say is: <rant> Shut up and show me some results. I don’t want to see your dark bedroom. I don’t want to see the out-of-focus packaging. I don’t want to hear and see you apply your WHOLE makeup routine. Just show me the results of the product, preferable up close, with good lighting, and in focus. </rant>

Dear Readers: I love suggestions. If you’ve got something you use that you love, tell me about it! You have the perfect suggestion for foundations? Tell me! I have combination skin, oily around my nose and forehead but dry to normal everywhere else. I also have pretty fair skin with red tones. HELP ME!

  1. I’m going to add this: it will not MASK. It “fills in” cos it’s clear. I’ve never really liked the primers I’ve tried (loads of them, including 2 from mally–one was erm, something and the other had a sheen? ew).

The defender is a “final step.” You can use it w/o makeup, though and I recommend as an oily gal, reapplication. That’s cool you got to try several! One of the best “uses” I saw was during a QVC presentation. It was the models but the seller lady lifted her fringe and said, “Look how oily” (and you could SEE it from across the room — they didn’t zoom), then she used it and the glare was gone. I was like, “that’s ME!” I hope it helps your pores but for me, a clear/ non-reactive MATTE is sooooo nice!
