GRASS!

I’m really tired today. It doesn’t help that walking into work made me cold so I put on a sweater and scarf when I got in. Now I’m toasty warm and drowsy to boot :(

I haven’t posted in awhile because I’ve been SO busy at work.  I’m playing trainer again, once more for our Intranet, and it’s been exhausting. I decided to take on building the training manual, and 40 pages later I feel amazed at how many screen shots you can take for one process. BUT! I’m extremely happy with it – while I wasn’t happy with our “one-page cheat sheet” we gave last time. Yesterday was the first day of training and I think it went really well! Particularly because one of my team members who was gone is very vocal during training so I feel like I’m interrupted often and I cant follow the process I’d like to follow. But it’s a team effort and I’m part of a team :) We have five more training days, with two sessions each, to go – so I’ll be at this until the end of next week. I just hope that all my hard work – trying to retrain these people – isn’t pointless.

In other news, I don’t think I’ve mentioned that work has began in our backyard! We now have a sidewalk that wraps around the house (while before it was just some uneven bricks in the dirt) and soon – SOON – we’ll have grass. I really can’t wait for grass, and I have to decide what I want to do in regards to the planter that borders the yard. Half of it is raised and the other half is not. Most of the plants are dead other than a really strange bush/tree, a palm tree, and a large bush – none of which add any cohesive look to the yard. If I had my way, I’d border the yard in this plant, Stipa tennuissima, because I like how it’s “fluffy” and so we’d have to plant less and get a bigger result. I also like this plant, Salvia leucantha, because I like the deep purple color. I’m not sure how the home owner would feel though. She seems to like teeny, delicate easily fried flowers while I like billowy dought resistant ones :P

I’ve been writing this post for a good three hours and  I don’t that productive for it. Oh well.

  1. Nice to hear you!

I think you’re really far south from where my friends live but they switched to only native plants and they’re THRIVING in the heat and dryness compared to the “imports” that Americans tend to think of as normal…Are yours those native to CA/ your region types? If so, they’re going to be beautiful w/ such less effort! It’s crazy seeing how much effort people put into things out there!

I guess it’s obvious but to me, you guys are like another planet ;p

    • Yeah, I found a website thats all about SoCal native plants. Both of those thrive in little to moderate water – full sun. I think they’d look okay too with the palm tree, even if not with the current bushes.
